How to Choose a Blender for a Kenyan Kitchen
Pick the right blender: motor power, jar size, blade quality and what to look for before you buy.
Motor power
For smoothies and soft fruit, 300–500 W is enough. For ice, nuts or tough vegetables, look for 600 W or more.
Jar size and material
1.5 litres suits most families. Glass jars resist scratches and smells; plastic is lighter and less likely to break.
Blades and speeds
Stainless steel blades last longer. Two or three speeds plus a pulse button cover most recipes.
Extras worth having
A grinder or mill attachment is useful for spices and dry ingredients. Check that spare jars are available.
